Lisa O'Leary decided to get married on the luckiest day ever - July 7, 2007. This is her story:
"Along with the thousands, my husband and I were married on 777 in Las Vegas, Nevada. I noticed this date about a year and a half ago. When I began calling the large casinos, they were already booking so I knew I needed to book fast. We chose to get married at the beautiful Mandalay Bay.
Knowing the amount of people that were going to be getting married there, we decided to go out a month early to apply for our marriage license. It was a good thing we did!
When we went we only had 2 people in line ahead of us. If I would have waited until Friday 7/6/7 I would have been sitting in 115 degree heat for many hours. The lines were going down the street and around the corner. I also heard that the courthouse did not extend their business hours to support this wave, so some people didn't get to get their license.
I am also glad I chose Mandalay Bay, rather that one of the small chapels. Since most of those chapels were not refusing anyone, they were EXTREMLY overbooked. They were running about an hour and a half behind schedule.
So, that means that the bridal party and guests were sitting outside waiting in the 115 degree weather. Ugh! Thank god for Mandalay!
We stayed at the Luxor for most of our trip. The funny part was when we got there they upgraded us to the tower rooms on the 7th FLOOR. Coincidence?
The ceremony was perfect! I didn't feel the 777 rush in there; they were well prepared and organized.
After our ceremony we booked the Penthouse Suite at the hotel of Mandalay Bay. It was gorgeous! We brought a DJ and our own beverages and food.
