Superstitious Couple

Dawn Miller from Florida wrote us to tell us about her and her husband Bob. She thinks they are  a superstitious couple:

We are not rich people, but we are superstitious people.

We got married when we were 21 years old on the 7th month, 7th day, at 7 o'clock.

We have now been married 27 years and we are going to drive to the closest casino and find a triple 7 slot machine and play the maximum bet at 7 o'clock.

Hope fully we'll have a good time and maybe win something.

We are both originally from small towns in Michigan and we now live in Florida.  We wanted to make our wedding in 1979 special and we wanted as many family and friends as possible to come.  So we set the date so no one could forget the date or time.

That's where the Triple Seven came into play.  We figured it would be very easy to remember; The Seventh month, Seventh day, at Seven O'clock.  It worked; we only had a few people that couldn't come due to prior commitments.  We were 21 years old when we married and this July 7th we will have been married 28 years.

We are superstitious people to an extend.  We don't get carried away with it, but I won't carry $13.00 or 13 cents in my pocket and Bob won't do certain things either.

However, if needed, I will walk under a ladder to get the hammer I dropped, and our black cat can cross my path anytime!

We own a small flower shop and with economy so tight we have to really watch the money.  Since 9-11 and the war, people have really cut back on frivolous products such as ours.  We understand the economy and watch it closely, but we both work 60 plus hours each week to keep those numbers in line.

So since we are cash broke we decided that for our anniversary we would just drive to the closest casino, find a Triple Seven slot, bet the maximum bet, and pull the handle at 7 O'clock.  It sounds very simple, but we both just smiled when we thought of the idea. Keeps us on an inexpensive anniversary excursion, but lets us have some fun dreaming of what that single PULL could financial do for us.  It could be life changing or nothing.

Either way, we get a night out on the luckiest number day. And it's our anniversary.  What better combination could there be?  Well, Las Vegas instead of the Indian Reservation, but that is not happening on our budget.
