The gambling community in light of the recent anti-gambling law

Posted by Tom Travis on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 - 10:45

The gambling community is buzzing and some are even raging over the recent bill approved by the U.S. Senate. This bill basically bans online gambling by making it illegal for banks and credit card companies to transfer money by U.S. citizens to online gambling companies.

Since the U.S. constitutes a very large portion of the world's gambling community, it is a major setback for the gaming industry.

However, things are not all bad. First of all, if we look on the half full cup, there are many gamblers from Europe, Asia and the rest of the world. Players from other countries can safely play in online casinos without it being considered illegal or even inappropriate.

Secondly, gamblers based in the U.S. can find comfort in two things: the first being the fact that every law doesn't have to last forever and that things change. The second is that the law does not cover all possible ways to conduct transactions through the Internet. There will be other ways for payments to be transferred to and by U.S. gamblers. The only questions are how and when this will happen, not if.

777.com will follow the new situation, its impact on the gambling community and its consequences on the gambling industry. We will closely monitor all gambling news on the subject and provide you with all you need to know.

The gambling world and the gambling community will continue to flourish and we, as always, will be here.

Good luck!

Charging 0.5 on profits ?

I heard that betfair are recently charging a 0.5 on accounts if you are in profit. has anyone else heard this ?

It's not too late!

Tomorrow, October 9th, there will be a big protesting against this bill in Washington D.C., at 9am! Everyone who cares about this should come!

The law means prohibition

Banning things never works. Online gambling will prevail and you can always play free casino games.

US Monopoly on Gambling

If U.S govt perceives Gambling as a threat, then why dont they ban all major casino parlours/casinos operating within US ? The best way to stop is to penalize all major casino operators in Las Vegas. Surely U.S govt takes decision based on their selfish interest. If gambling is bad then every single form of gambling should be discarded whether online or offline. What will U.S Govt do to gambling/online casino websites located offshore. People can easily locate them through Google, Yahoo, or MSN. Surely U.S Govt must be planning to impose BAN on Google, Yahoo or MSN soon. ------------------------------------------------------------- I am working as a gaming expert in Crystal Palace Casino.

How are they going to

How are they going to enforce the 2% tax when the Internet casino sits on some island in the Carribean?

I can't believe this is

I can't believe this is happening. Online gambling is just like conventional gambling, why ban it? Should we expect famous Vegas casinos to be closed to??? Bothwell

The Law should be Changed

It's one's own wish to gmable or not to play.It should not be banned by making laws
