This week has been a good week

Over the past few months I have been working very hard on my multi-tabling game at full-ring NLHE. A few years ago I played limits up to $25-$50 but I only ever single tabled. These days anyone who makes around 3ptbb/100 at that level is doing very well. The $25-$50 level is populated by some of the very best players in the world now and some of these guys have $500k bankrolls.

It is a far cry from 2005 where on some sites these levels were populated by nothing but sports bettors. However a win rate of 3ptbb/100 when you are single tabling a six max game and only playing one table would only equate to about $300/hour. This is a fantastic earn rate but my speciality was always full-ring and full-ring games have become very rare now at the higher limits.

This would mean that with fewer hands per hour then you would only make around $150/hour. I was never good enough to multi-table a level like $25-$50 and so huge earnings for me at this level was never possible. But yet I had a theory some years ago that mass tabling lower levels was the way to go if you had a technique that could produce a decent win rate at any level. Let us say that you could make a respectable but far from crushing earn rate of 5ptbb/100 at a modest level like NL50. This would equate to $5/100 hands. But imagine if you are playing 12 tables and seeing 750 hands per hour?

This would equate to $37.50/hour plus rakeback and bonuses which would surely make your earn rate at least $50/hour. Also because you are playing at such a low level then game selection is much less of a problem. Imagine a player who could manage to play 200 hours of poker a month? This player could make $10k/month from online poker and this is a staggering amount of money from such a low level of play.

This is also presuming that a player could not reach a far greater ptbb/100 and also that they could not manage more than 12 tables and also that they couldn’t do the same thing at NL100. If you could work up to such a level then making a very substantial amount of money from online poker becomes possible without ever playing at serious levels……this has been my goal this summer and I think that I am making serious progress.
