Poker is a game of SKILL!
Over the past few weeks we have witnessed 2 court cases that concluded with the judges confirming that poker is a game of skill. As poker players we are all aware of this and obviously extremely happy it is gaining some momentum. However, where do we go from here? How do we continue to get the word out about the game we all know and love? I suppose the media and getting as much information out as possible is a good start and I know the PPA is doing everything in its power to help. It is still too early for the senate ruling and what it will include in terms of what last minute decisions by the previous administration will be revoked but I remain confident that something will get done soon.
With the economy the way it is now it only makes sense to siphon into a $2 - $4 Billion dollars in additional tax revenue. How can the Obama administration possibly turn its head away from that? You would be hard pressed to justify not tapping into that kind of money.
Wouldn't you?
I suppose my greatest concern at this point is, what if poker players are overlooked amongst the chaos that the US is currently experiencing financially? Will online poker be able to recover in the United States? When is the next time we would be able to plead our case to the powers that be?
Many questions still remain unanswered but for now things are about as good as we could hope for. Keep your fingers crossed!
