Are you Ready to Play Poker?

Are you ready to play poker? Seriously, are you prepared to play the game of poker each and every time you step into your local casino? This happens to be a very legitimate question because the way you answer it may provide some insite as to why you may not be doing as well. I think we can all agree that playing poker is all about skill and execution mixed with a little luck here and there. The most valuable tool that any of us poker players have is our mind. Yes, our ability to think through sometimes very complex scenarios in very small spaces of time and come up with the correct conclusion most of the time is invaluable.

Imagine if every time you walked into a poker room and were a little annoyed by an argument you just had or were angry at someone for an incident earlier in the day. How well do you think you would function at a poker table? Not very well at all. This is what I mean by being ready to play poker. You have to not just be physically ready to play the game of poker but you need to be of sound mind as well. Small nagging scenarios can cause you to use poor judgment at crucial times. That can cost you a lot of money!

I always urge poker players to play when your mind is clear and all is relatively good in the world. It allows you to play at your optimum and that is the only time you should ever go near a poker table. Getting regular rest and eating healthy also makes for a stable and flexible mind ready to perform at it's best. Take good care of yourself and you will always be able to play your best.
