All-In Pre-Flops Drive Me To The Doctor
I recently had surgery, and as a result, have not been able to go out and play much poker or visit any casinos. Instead, I sit at home – all day – leaving only for the occasional physical therapy session. While there are definitely perks to this “forced laziness”, if I had a choice, I wouldn’t be doing it.I’ve been playing a lot of poker online, and it’s been ok. I’m not playing for any “real” money, but I’ve increased my stash by about 50k, so I’m pretty happy about that. I try to limit my playing time, simply because I’ve grown completely annoyed with how some people play.
It’s inevitable that it’ll happen – I get an awesome pocket, and some fool goes all-in before the Flop. While I know my pocket is secure, I now have about 30 seconds to decide if I feel it’s worth going all-in for or not. And as my luck would have it, I agree to go all in when I shouldn’t, and when I don’t go all-in, they have crap. EVERY TIME. Ok, maybe not every time: I’ve definitely agreed to go all in pre-flop before and won, but it just SEEMS like the opposite happens too much.
A part of me seriously wishes that “Pre-Flop All-In’s” should be banned from the table. Texas Hold’em is one of the few variations of poker that genuinely allows for a certain amount of skill to be utilized. While it’s still possible to figure out your out’s pre-flop, it’s not nearly as accurate or probable of odds.
Maybe I’m just being a sore loser, but I find that when I’m at a table, and somebody goes all-in pre-flop twice in a row, I usually leave to find another table. However, I almost always run into another fool playing the same way.
I think I just need to spend more time at physical therapy so I can get back to the felt quicker.
