Atlantic City – Still a Good Casino Destination
Most of the news we hear out of Atlantic City these days is bad news. With much of the United States in a recession, Atlantic City has been hit hard financially, and their casinos have suffered as a result. Taking all of this into account, many people wonder if AC is even worth visiting anymore. And the truth is that this casino destination is definitely worth traveling to since there are lots of perks to enjoy, including the following.Plenty of Casinos
While Atlantic City doesn’t compete with Las Vegas or Macau in regards to their amount of casinos, they still offer plenty of options for visitors with 11 casinos, and more on the way. The Atlantic City Borgata is one of the world’s classiest and most extravagant casinos with its luxury spas, Immersion pool, and world-class restaurants. Atlantic City Caesars is yet another favorite of casino gamers since they offer excellent entertainment and a very impressive entrance. Most of the other casinos in the city leave little to be desired as well.
Great Location
People who spend a lot of time in the Atlantic City area will find that this town has an excellent overall location because of the surrounding cities. New York City is less than three hours away, while Philadelphia is under an hour and a half away. That said, people can visit either of these metropolises during a trip to Atlantic City, which definitely gives this place more appeal.
Nightlife
Those who are fans of going out to bars and clubs will appreciate Atlantic City because they have a good nightlife. Sure AC is never going to match the party scene in Las Vegas, but they do have some great casino bars in Dusk (Caesars), Wild West (Bally’s) and Mur-Mur (Borgata). Furthermore, the smaller size of Atlantic City enables people to easily travel from bar to bar in the downtown area. Plus there is the Marina district, which has its fair share of quality night spots.
Good Shopping Districts
You’ll have little trouble finding a place to shop at in Atlantic City since they feature several different prominent shopping areas. In fact, AC’s shopping rivals that of any casino destination in the world! The different shopping districts in Atlantic City are The Walk, The Pier Shops (Caesars) and The Quarter (Tropicana). The latter offers the most unique stores in the city, The Pier features high-end retailers like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, while The Walk has plenty of mainstream stores like Banana Republic, Zoo York and Tommy Hilfiger.
Shows and Entertainment
Atlantic City has one of the world’s most underrated entertainment scenes since there are lots of different shows that people can see. Most of the shows are revolving acts – unlike the mainstay shows in Las Vegas and Macau – but that doesn’t mean people can’t still enjoy themselves while taking in a show. Furthermore, you can often get free show tickets as part of package deals or casino comps.
The Boardwalk
It might be cliché to mention The Boardwalk area of Atlantic City, but it’s worth discussing anyways. This historic point is the site of several casinos and retail shops, and it offers visitors an excellent point to view the Atlantic Ocean. Going beyond this, The Boardwalk was prominently featured in the board game Monopoly, and it remains one of the biggest draws to the city.
And contrary to today’s popular opinion, those who are drawn to Atlantic City certainly won’t be disappointed with their visit.
