Slots Tournament Tips

Slots Tournament Tips

Rather than constantly competing against the casino, some people like to jump in slots tournaments and battle their fellow casino players instead. Slots tourneys offer a breath of fresh air from regular play, and can even prove to be more profitable in the long-run for certain players. If you’re looking to become one of these players, then hopefully the following tips will help out.

Tip #1: Understand the Tournament Format First

While this tip might sound kind of obvious, we can’t stress enough how important it is to study a casino slots tournament’s format. Many tourneys will give you a fixed amount of credits on a single game, and you’ll need to play all of the credits within a certain time frame. Other events might see you picking and choosing what games you play in the timed tourney, which requires some knowledge of the games beforehand. In any case, read all of the rules in advance so you know what casino strategy to employ in the tournament.

Tip #2: Practice Bankroll Management

Before we get into tips about actually playing a slots tournament, keep in mind that you should be careful with how much money you spend on tourney buy-ins. Those who want to ensure that their bankroll lasts should never use more than 10% of their roll to buy into a tournament. In the best case scenario, you should avoid spending more than 5% of your casino bankroll on any single tournament. By sticking to a plan with slots tournament buy-ins, you’ll ensure that you don’t go bust within the first 20 tourneys you play.

Tip #3: Prepare yourself before Tournaments

Nearly every slots tournament involves some sort of time limit where everybody starts with the same amount of coins, and they need to bet the coins before the time is up. There’s not much skill to these tourneys because you are basically just trying to click your mouse or push the button (land-based tournaments) as fast as possible. And while this may sound lame, it’s a lot harder than you would think because many of these tournaments last for 20 minutes or more. This being said, you need to take care of everything prior to the slots tourney like going to the bathroom and/or getting a drink so you don’t waste a moment during casino play.

Tip #4: Avoiding checking how Opponents are doing

As alluded to in tip #2, you don’t want to waste time by doing anything other than focusing on the casino tournament. Even still, many slots players let their curiosity get the better of them as they are constantly checking to see how opponents are doing. Unfortunately, this takes focus off of your game, and can slow you down, or even cause missed spins. In any case, you’ll do much better in slots tournaments by honing in on the game you’re playing and checking the results later.

Tip #5: Rest during Big Payouts if Possible

One thing that’s helpful to know before a tournament is the amount of time you get in between big payouts. For example, small casino payouts are always awarded quickly, so you get no time to rest in between. However, many land-based slots tournaments take a little while to award a 500 coin payout or bigger. With this being said, you can rest your fingers and hand while the big payout is being made.

Looking at slots tournaments from a broader perspective, you can see there aren’t a whole lot of things that can be done skill-wise to gain an advantage. However, if you practice some of the smaller things in casino tournaments, you can swing the long-term odds in your favor. Aside from that, the rest involves letting luck take its course.
