Top 10 Ways to get thrown out of Casinos

We’ve all heard stories about skilled card counters being thrown out of casinos because they win too much money. However, card counting isn’t the only way to get kicked out of a casino because there are a whole host of offenses that could have staff members tossing you to the curb. Assuming you’d rather remain in the casino to enjoy your stay, here are 10 things you should avoid doing.

1. Winning through card counting, dice control or wheel bias

Casinos don’t usually throw people out of their establishments merely for winning. In fact, if somebody appears to be winning by random chance, most casinos do everything possible to keep them playing in order to eventually win the money back. However, anybody who exudes traits of a professional gambler is often kicked out or banned altogether in order to prevent heavy losses. This is especially the case with really good card counters, dice control (craps) experts and wheel bias (roulette) masters.

2. Being Underage

All casinos have an age limit for players since they don’t want to violate laws, or have a bunch of middle schoolers on the craps table. So if you’re underage, you are obviously going to get kicked out of the casino when the staff finds out. Now some people try to get around this by making fake ID’s, but keep in mind that casino staff members are very good at spotting fakes.

3. Not paying Casino Bills

Some high rollers and frequent players are given credit by casinos. This way, a person can run up a huge bill worry-free, then pay it off later when they get home. But if you treat a $10k gambling bill like it’s your past-due electric bill, the casino isn’t going to welcome you with open arms. Even worse, they’ll probably pull you into a private room to discuss the matter further.

4. Abusing Online Casino Bonuses

Land-based casinos aren’t the only ones who throw people out since online casinos also reserve the right to cyber toss players off their sites. This is usually done to people who abuse the online casino bonuses by betting small, minimal amounts of money just to cash in on a bonus. The whole reason why internet casinos give these bonuses out is to encourage signups; not attract misers who are trying to milk a few bonus bucks.

5. Taking Pictures

You’re not automatically going to get tossed out of a casino for taking pictures. In fact, many people don’t even realize that taking pictures is frowned upon in casinos. However, some see pictures as a potential invasion of privacy - especially if the person being photographed is acting wild. So it depends on what/who you’re taking pictures of as to whether or not you’ll get kicked out or just warned for photos.

6. Cheating

This point is ranked lower because most people realize that they’re going to get kicked out of a casino for cheating. Even still, it’s worth mentioning that if you engage in any type of cheating, you’re not only going to be banned from the casino, but also arrested by the police. Some famous cheating methods include stealing chips from other players, placing chips on winning bets after the fact, using loaded dice, and using electronic devices to manipulate roulette results. But keep in mind that being really skilled at a game, such as card counters with blackjack, isn’t considered cheating - casinos just really hate this.

7. Swearing and/or being Offensive

Many people let the occasional swear word out once and a while. But if you let a string of cuss words fly, the casino security may send you flying out of the casino. Just as bad as cursing is being offensive to other people, arguing with dealers, and/or making people feel uncomfortable at the tables. Essentially, being a jerk to others is going to get you tossed out on your butt.

8. Being Drunk

This often leads to swearing and being offensive, and is a big reason why casinos throw people out for getting drunk. An even bigger reason why being drunk is such a problem for casinos is because they can be fined for serving people too many drinks. This happened at the Star Casino in Sydney, Australia when a player drank 42 beers in 17 hours; the Star Casino was fined AUD $10,000 following the incident.

9. Bringing Weapons into a Casino

You might want to leave your six shooter, nunchuks and saber at home when you’re on a gambling trip. After all, casinos don’t allow weapons on their property, and you are guaranteed to be thrown out for carrying weapons inside. Sure there are usually no laws against barring arms in a casino, but since these establishments make their own rules, you aren’t getting in with any kind of dangerous weapons.

10. Hanging out in Casinos with your Kids

Most casinos don’t bar people from bringing their kids inside. After all, places like Las Vegas and Macau are filled with gambling spots around every corner, so preventing kids from nearing a slots machine is impossible. However, you can’t hang around in casinos with your kids, and you definitely cannot let them play any games. Casinos face fines and possibly the loss of their gambling license for allowing minors to place bets.
