World’s 10 Biggest Casinos

World’s 10 Biggest Casinos

If there’s one thing that the world of casinos has taught us, it’s that bigger is better. In fact, gambling corporations seem to have entered some unspoken arms race as they are constantly topping each other with gigantic casinos. All of this has resulted in some pretty impressive establishments, which we’ll to take a look at in this list of the world’s 10 biggest casinos.

1. The Venetian Macau

The Venetian Macau is the pinnacle of huge casinos everywhere as it spans 546,000 square feet. Built by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation in 2007, the Venetian was the first casino on Macau’s Cotai Strip, and it’s also the world’s biggest casino by far. Since opening, the Venetian has become a huge attraction with its giant, 870-table gaming floor, gondola rides, three separate shopping areas, four pools and world-class restaurants.

2. City of Dreams Resort (Macau)

The Venetian opened up the door for the world’s second largest casino - City of Dreams Resort - to be built on the Cotai Strip. This dream child of Australian billionaire James Packer and Melco Crown Entertainment is 42,000 square feet large, and it includes 520 tables games and 1,350 gaming machines. The $2.1 billion project offers two different gambling areas, three hotel areas, an amazing multi-media show called the Dragon’s Treasure and the House of Dancing Water show.

3. Foxwoods Resort Casino (Ledyard, Connecticut, US)

Nestled in the small town of Ledyard, Connecticut, the Foxwoods Resort Casino is the United States’ largest casino. The 340,000-square-foot structure houses the most electronic games in the world with 7,000, and they also have 400 table games. Foxwoods has become somewhat of a Mecca for bingo players since it offers a colossal bingo room that seats 4,000 people. This Mashantucket Pequot India-owned casino draws a large crowd every week because of its favorable location in between New York and Boston.

4. Casino Ponte 16 (Macau)

Yet another Macau establishment, Casino Ponte 16 covers 270,000 square feet in Macau’s historic Inner Harbor district. While Casino Ponte is a little short on restaurants/ bars with just three, they make up for this by offering 150 table games and 320 gaming machines; plus there are 2 VIP areas where the high rollers can go to get away from the crowd. Interestingly enough, there is also a huge Michael Jackson Gallery in Casino Ponte that’s dedicated to the late King of Pop’s career.

5. Tusk Rio Casino Resort (Klerksdorp, South Africa)

Tusk Rio Casino Resort is the gambling pride of South Africa, and it’s just slightly smaller than Casino Ponte 16 at 266,000 square feet. The strange thing is that, even with all of this space, there are only 13 tables games throughout the casino. However, there are a lot of electronic games here with 274 slot and video poker machines on the Tusk Rio gaming floor. Tusk Rio also houses a VIP room and a poker room to add further variety to the gambling scene. Other things to do here include golfing and seeing the numerous historical attractions around Klerksdorp.

6. Sands Macau

Before the Venetian, Las Vegas Sands’ giant stake in the Macau gambling scene was the Sands Macau. In addition to its 229,000-square-foot structure, Sands Macau stands out because of the fact that they have more gambling tables than any other casino in the world with 1,000; they also have a solid electronic gambling presence with 750 machines. Moving away from the gaming floor, the Paiza Club Spa and Salon is an excellent place for visitors to relax since it offers a cool plunge pool, Jacuzzis, a steam room, a sauna and a fully-functional fitness center.

7. MGM Grand Macau

Besides being one of the world’s flashiest casinos, the MGM Grand Macau is also one of the biggest casinos on the planet too. This gaming-heavy establishment spans 222,000 square feet, and has 410 tables, over 830 electronic games and 12 restaurants/bars. But MGM Macau is more than just a huge casino because its elaborate décor makes this venue worth a visit anytime. Large trees, beautiful fountains and marble walls are a few of the aspects that make this casino very atheistically pleasing.

8. MGM Grand Las Vegas

What’s interesting is that, despite being the world’s second largest gambling destination, Las Vegas’ biggest casino in the MGM Grand only ranks eighth on the world’s biggest casinos list. In any case, MGM Grand Las Vegas is still impressive with its 170,000-square-foot casino, which includes 178 gambling tables and a whopping 2,300 electronic machines. Another amazing aspect about MGM Grand is that it houses one of the biggest hotels in the world at 5,044 rooms. Visitors might never want to leave the hotel either since MGM offers two vibrant clubs, a big spa and a giant pool.

9. Casino Lisboa (Lisbon, Portugal)

As one of the biggest draws to Portugal’s capital city of Lisbon, Casino Lisboa certainly has enough room to accommodate all visitors with their 165,000-square-foot casino and 1,000-room hotel complex. For the most part, Casino Lisboa is an electronic gambling casino since there are 1,000 machines on the floor; however, they also have a decent table game presence with 26 tables. This venue also offers all of the regulars you’d come to expect from a giant casino such as dance clubs, fine dining, concerts and world-class shows.

10. The Borgata Atlantic City

The Borgata draws millions of people to Atlantic City’s boardwalk with its huge selection of electronic games (4,100) and large number of table games (285 tables). Along with this, there are also 17 restaurants/bars and 2,002 hotel rooms.
