Editorial Review

The Spielbank Berlin is the biggest casino in Berlin, spreading out on three floors in the beautiful Potsdamer Platz, in the center of the city.

In 1975, Spielbank Berlin opened its doors at the Europa-Center in what was then West Berlin. In 1998, Spielbank Berlin moved to the newly built Potsdamer Platz in the new center of Berlin. In October, 2003, Spielbank Berlin celebrated its 28th birthday and its 5th year anniversary at Potsdamer Platz.

The casinos basement floor contains 250 varied slot machines, video poker, bingo, derby and other games.

The ground floor has 50 slot machines including 24 TouchBetTM Roulette stations, fully automated electronic player stations, which are connected to a classic live game roulette table.

The top floor is where the real action is with 4 blackjack tables, 2 poker tables and 4 roulette tables.

In the casino you will find the casino shop, which sells gifts and souvenirs and also four bars, so you will not have the chance to get thirsty...

There is no need to dress up to enter the Spielbank and it is an excellent option for a good time, as long it's between 11:30 am to 5:00 am.

Probably the best and largest casino in Berlin

Out of the two casinos my girlfriend and I visited in Berlin, this one is definitely the better one, and probably the best in Berlin.
The 3 floor Spielbank casino is located in the heart of Berlin, in Potsdamer Platz, which is a shopping and business center, not from the Tiergarten.
The first casino we went to was in the Park Inn Hotel in Alexanderplatz. The differences between the two are considerable: the Park Inn requires a tie or jacket while the Spielbank is attire-free. The Park Inn is small and a bit dark while the Spielbank is much lighted and very big. Lastly, the Park Inn consists of only a few games tables and not a single slot machine while the Spielbank has plenty of both.
The main floor of the Spielbank (you enter on a red carpet) has slot machines and mostly special computerized Roulette where around 20 people sit with personal screens that show the Roulette table operated by the dealer in front of them.
The floor below the entrance floor has only slot machine – every slot machine known to man, including video poker and those mini-horse races machines.
The third floor is the best floor. It is the more upscale floor with all the right tables – Blackjack, Roulette and, of course, Poker. The poker table’s buy-in was a little steep for me but the Blackjack was fun.
Overall, I won 15 Euro so I can’t complain, but my girlfriend lost about the same so I guess we broke even. Anyway, it was worth the money that was not really spent and it was a fun experience.
