Blackjack - Peter Allen

A crowd was now starting to gather behind Allan and the blackjack table and cheer him on.

"Some may have felt pressure from this, but I was a man inspired."

The bankroll was growing and by the time it reached $8000 he decided that he would stop when it reached $6000 or $10,000, whichever was first.

"It was $10,000 and I converted my mound of chips into a single $10,000 one. As I walked to the cashier's to change the chip I was on cloud nine. I was sad to let go of the chip but the wad of 100 $100 bills made up for it. As I left the casino, I wanted time to stop still. That way the greatest night of my life would stay in the present forever," Allen said. "It didn't, though, and is now in the past."

Allan has played a bit of blackjack since and has had some successes, but nowhere near the degree of that night.

"As for the $10,000, it paid off all of my debts. I bought a new computer and home entertainment system. Blackjack was definitely my game."

Peter Allan was in Las Vegas for his brother's bachelor party and had one of those magical weekends that Vegas is famous for producing.

"I was down in Las Vegas for my brother's bachelor party. After a few drinks we decided to hit the tables. My bankroll was $500 and if I lost it, so be it. I wasn't sure where I would stop regarding winnings because I was so sure about the likelihood of this."

Allan was betting $50 a hand at blackjack and started off slow but then went on a bit of a tear.

"I went from $350 to $900. I then decided to play $100 a hand and open up a second box. That only saw my fortunes get better! I kept thinking, blackjack is my game!"

On the first hand of two boxes Allan received blackjack in the first and doubled up successfully in the other. After 25 minutes, the $900 had inflated to $4000.

"I had now paid for the trip and was envisaging what to do with the extra cash - Pay off some debts, buy myself a few things and maybe save a bit."

The dealers changed and with that his momentum halted, but he was able to recover and keep up with his winning streak.

"Most of my decisions were spot on, especially when I was in the tricky 12-16 area. On one hand I had 16 against the dealer's 7 and wasn't sure what to do. I took the hit and got a 4. The dealer played straight after me and got a 10. Not only had I won but I prevented the dealer from getting 21. This was the type of night I was having."
