Darren Woods Goes for Gold at the 2011 WSOP

Darren Woods Goes for Gold at the 2011 WSOP

The 42nd Annual WSOP is underway. Team 888poker has already hit its straps with 2 massive victories in this thrilling contest. The first went to the winner of Event #14: $3k Limit Hold’em (Tyler Bonkowski) and the second went to the winner of Event #19: $2,500 Limit Hold’em/Six Handed (Darren Woods).
The prize money was listed as $220,871 and $213,431 respectively.

Woods Blazes a Trail

For Darren Woods, few competitors would have survived his run-of-luck in the $2.5k Limit Hold’em/Six Handed contest. He played hard and fast to oust Kim Nguyen – after 90 minutes of heads-up play to win a massive payday. While Nguyen was happy to raise on the button, Woods was quick to re-raise. He went all-in and called Nguyen.

His hole cards were a 4h and a 2h, while Nguyen was holding a Ks and a 2c. This contest resulted in a clear winner with Woods’ trip topping Nguyen’s pair of big men.

Team 888poker Looks for More Victories in this Dazzling Contest

It’s still early days for this year’s WSOP championship Main Event. But for 888poker a few more victories are certainly not out of the question. It may well be that Woods or Bonkowski or even Shane Warne – the Captain of Team 888poker – may win the prestigious Main Event come July 9th 2011. Warne is already set to compete and it’s anybody’s guess how easily the big man can spin his way to victory.
