Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu began his poker playing days quite early in life when he dropped out of college when he was just about to graduate and began playing at local charity casinos in his home town of Toronto, Canada.

He left to Las Vegas to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional poker player but he wasn't ready for sin city. He soon lost all his bankroll and returned to Toronto.

In 1997 things changed when he won two events at the World Poker Finals and raked $133,600. He was also voted that tournament's best all-around player.

He won $169,460 at the following year's World Series of Poker in the Pot Limit Hold'em event. Negreanu also became the youngest player ever to win a WSOP bracelet (until 2004).

Now a successful poker player, Negreanu went on to win two World Poker Tour (WPT) events, two additional WSOP bracelets and more. He signed on as the Wynn Las Vegas "Poker Ambassador" who played in their poker room for any stake.

Aside from playing at most major tournaments, Negreanu has also written hundreds of poker articles for magazines and even contributed a chapter to Doyle Brunson's Super System II.

He participated in many poker TV shows, such as High Stakes Poker, Poker After Dark, Ultimate Poker challenge, Late Night Poker and Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament.

Up until 2006 his total live tournament winnings were more than $9,600,000, surpassed only by Joe Hachem and Jamie Gold (2005 and 2006 winners, respectively). In the WPT circuit things are even better for Negreanu as he's the all-time leading money winner.

He currently lives in Las Vegas, with his wife Lori, where he's close to the action and his favorite poker room in the Bellagio.
