Erick Lindgren is an American professional poker player. He was born on August 11th, 1976, in Burney, California. He was an All League Quarterback and MVP basketball player in high school, and went to junior college in Chico, California to play basketball. He was introduced to gambling while he was at college, playing card games at a local Indian casino. He got a job as a blackjack dealer, and while working at the casino he soaked up information about poker and becake a strong player.
By the age of 21 he was playing poker full time, whilst working at a casino in San Pablo as a 'propositional player', hired by the casino to keep games interesting.
His first major tournament win came in 2002, at the Bellagio casino. Later that year he picked up his first World Poker Tour win, and from there he has had a steady streak of success. At the poker table he is often referred to by his nicknames, 'Edog', and 'The American Idol'.
Lindgren has racked up two World Poker Tour titles, and has made the final table five times. He also has a total of twelve money finishes. His World Series of Poker luck has not been as strong, with 13 money finishes, but no success in the main event, and no bracelets. He has been successful in other tournaments, however, winning the FullTiltPoker.net 'Poker Pro Showdown' – where he was up against talent including Chris Ferguson and Phil Ivey.
He earned the honor 'World Poker Tour Player of The Year' in 2004.
He is a member of Team Full Tilt, and often hosts large buy-in tournaments on the site. In February, he became the first Full Tilt team member to win a tournament hosted by themselves, when he won the FTOPS Event #9.
One notable non-poker bet Erick was involved in was a proposition bet for $350,000 with Gavin Smith and Phil Ivey, where he had to play four consecutive rounds of golf at a Las Vegas golf course between sunrise and sunset. To win the bet he had to carry his own bags and come in under 100 on each of the four rounds. He won the bet, even though temperatures reached over 100 degrees, and he was starting to suffer from heat exhaustion. He reportedly lost 12 pounds in weight while completing the bet.
So far, he has amassed live tournament winnings of more than $6,000,000.
