Poker Tricks: The Correct Place at the Table

Poker Tricks: The Correct Place at the Table

Basically, poker is not complicated at all. The basic rules of the game are easily learned and everybody who is familiar with a deck of cards can play a game of poker. Why are there good and bad players? Why are there many books about the game of poker? Most of the beginners are not aware of the fact that every single detail of poker is very important. This is true both for the familiarity with the cards, the possible card combinations and the probability of the occurrence of certain hands, as well as the psychological aspects of the game. The interaction is very essential when playing poker – and therefore, every single detail is important that influences this interaction.

Do not Underestimate the Seat at the Table when Playing Live Poker

When playing live poker, the interaction with the opponents naturally is more important than when playing online poker. It is true that it is crucial to observe your opponents carefully and to be in the best possible position by using every external condition. This also includes the seating at the poker table. At first sight it may seem that the seat at the table is not relevant. After all, since the dealer button is passed on clockwise, every player is the dealer now and then. But the persons sitting next to you are not at all irrelevant. Because the game is played clockwise, the left of every two players has an advantage, since he is the last to act. Therefore, you should choose your left neighbor carefully, if possible. It is ideal to choose a careful and passive player as your left neighbor. If such a player is not willing to take any risks, it is worth to raise before taking any actions, since the chances are good that he will not continue the hand. On the place to your right there should be an aggressive poker player. He or she will offer many tells and therefore reveal his hand. You then have the chance to fold very easily when having a bad hand or to play a good hand against him or her. If the aggressive player is sitting on the left side there is the risk that he calls too often. Apart from the positions of the opponents you should very carefully focus on the fact that you are not overly distracted on your position. Many players are able to concentrate in a much better way, if they sit with their back to the wall. Of course, this depends on your own preferences – in such a case you should always consider: the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
