Seven Card Stud Rules

The object of the game is to assemble the best five card hand out of the seven available cards – two face-down cards and five face-up cards.

If the game is played with a bring-in (a forced bet, similar to a blind in Texas Holdem), the player with the lowest-ranking up-card pays it. The bring-in is half of the low limit bet size.

The game is usually played with an ante, which is about 1/5 of the low limit bet size. The ante is placed by each player before the hand begins.

There are five rounds of betting in the game. If you're playing a fixed limit game, then all bets must be equal to the low or high limit, according to the round you're in.

In the first two rounds the best must be equal to the low limit bet size and in the further rounds must be equal to the high limit. A maximum of three raises is allowed in each betting round.
