Winner of the September 9th $100 Guaranteed
Carlos Mora from Chile
Carlos Mora from Chile, a 24-year-old student of engineering (who has just finished his studies) is the winner of our $100 Guaranteed poker tournament.
Carlos has also won his free ticket to our next tournament, the $200 Guaranteed, where he'll have the chance to show his poker skills once more.
777: Carlos, how long have you been playing poker?
Carlos: I first started playing draw poker but only for small amounts of money in house games. A couple of years ago I saw Texas Hold'em on TV but really got interested in playing seriously about 6 months ago.
777: How long have you been playing online?
Carlos: Just about a year, but consistently about 6 months.
Carlos: No limit Hold'em tournaments and I also enjoy a lot playing heads up.
777: Do you play any casino games?
Carlos: I play blackjack when I go to casinos.
777: Do you have a certain playing style or strategy?
Carlos: Sure, depending on the opponents and my stack I try to adjust my game. I always try to be seen as a tight player.
777: How would you describe the tournament and the hands that were played?
Carlos: It was pretty weird at first... Lots of patience needed. When few players left it was really hard though. The level was pretty good at that stage of the game; fortunately I got real good starting hands when playing HU.
777: What tips can you give other poker players?
Carlos: Always remember the ratio between risk and profit... pot odds are the way to control that. Know when and who to bluff. Also, always try to cultivate an image of you and use it to your advantage when proper.
777: How many hours a day do you spend playing poker?
Carlos: About 2-3 hours per day, and one or two just watching or learning from books or videos.
777: Do you have any other hobbies other than playing poker?
Carlos: Music and soccer are my two favorite hobbies. Besides, I'd like to add that I can't wait to play again in your tourneys, especially against the winner of the last $777 Guaranteed in August (Lorraine Fyfe from the UK) who sent me and my pocket aces back home against a four of a kind kings, just before prizes were awarded.... it still hurts.
Well, Carlos, we hope you're more lucky with your aces this time. Good luck!
