888 Sport
888Sport.com is a sports betting web site from the people behind the 888.com casino. The site offers sports betting facilities for fans of several sports – from the staples such as horse racing and football variants to national sports such as rugby, and some more niche sports such as the UFC, as well as 'specials' – where you can bet on other events such as elections.
888 Sport is very clean, and loads quickly. The color scheme includes the green that you would associate with 888.com, but is less glitzy than its sibling casino site. You could almost have the site open at work without attracting undue attention – although we don't advocate using your work internet connection for personal use...
The front page of the site offers lots of news about current sporting events, and a schedule of live events, so you can check easily to see if you are about to miss any important games. Beside each news article is a 'bet' link, so you can quickly access the game you want to bet on.
The live scores section of the web site shows you all games that are currently running, or have just finished, and lets you see how you are doing on your bets. You can also access statistics such as team performances in home or away games, and driver or team performances on different tracks.
The site has a small casino section, as well as a poker section, and links to the 888 Bingo and Backgammon sites. You can browse the sports betting section without being logged in, but if you want to play any of the casino games you have to log in to your account. Playing the casino games requires a small download and installation of client software.
As you place bets, they will appear on your betting slip. This is located in the top left of the screen – expanding the slip opens a new window where you can see all of your bets. This may require you to turn off any pop-up blocking software you have running, which is a small inconvenience, but in my opinion is a better design than some sites, which use a floating betting slip in the same browser window as the rest of the site.
Before you bet it is worth reading the 888Sport.com cashout policy to make sure you understand it – essentially, when you cash out, funds will be sent to the accounts that you paid money in with, before sending to your preferred cashout method. So, if you pay $50 in with Neteller, then $50 on your Visa card, then win a bet, and attempt to cash out $150, you will get $50 back in to Neteller, and $50 back on your debit card. The remaining $50 will be sent wherever you request it. Presumably this measure is to prevent money laundering.
You can bet almost any amount with 888Sports – from as little as 50p in UK money (around $1 USD) . There is a cap on how much you can win – but it is currently set at a little under 350,000 Euros.
The site is not currently promoting any special bonuses for new users, however for long term bettors the odds offered are competitive, and the ability to easily track bets, and see odds in your preferred format (fractions/decimals, etc), makes them a good choice.
888Sport, like the rest of the 888 network, believe in responsible gambling, and will only allow over 18s to join the site. They also allow you to track, and block, transactions on your account. They can easily be contacted, either via email, or one of several international toll free numbers. The site has an extensive FAQ, which answers questions on everything from depositing and withdrawing funds to understanding sports betting jargon.
