Bwin
Bwin.com is a sports betting site with a slightly more modern and trendy appearance, compared to the rather dull ‘bookies’ appearance of many other sites.
Bwin.com has a strong leaning towards football, but covers a wide range of other sports betting too.
There are 41 sports listed on the site as having bets available, and at the time of writing, there were 7657 betting options. The sports available include soccer, American football, Aussie Rules football, baseball, basketball, chess, badminton, golf, tennis, and many more.
The sports betting site is attractively designed, with a list of the sports on the left hand side, the latest news in the middle column, and a betting slip on the right hand side, allowing you to easily keep track of the bets you have made. Below the betting slip is a ‘live betting’ section, showing games currently in progress.
For each sport, you can select a range of different kinds of bets, including money line, spread bets, longterm bets, totals, and sport specific bets such as touchdowns for American Football, or set related bets in tennis.
There are lots of tournaments, leagues, and events represented – in tennis you can bet on the ATP and the WTA, for example, and American Football options include the NFL, CFL, and College Football.
The money line is laid out on a clear, easy to read table, and there is a lot of information available on the site to help you track your bets. First time users may want to look at the First Bet Tutorial and the Live Bet Tutorial, to get an idea of the kinds of things that are on offer. There is also a Mobile Bet Tutorial for people that like to bet on the move. The mobile site works well on Pocket PC phones, but I wasn’t able to test it on Symbian or any other mobile devices.
The statistics page offers in depth information about all of the sports on the site, with overviews, team listings, and fixtures.
Bwin.com is rather light on promotional offers. There is currently something running where if you place 10EUR on the top 5 bets, you have a chance to win 723EUR, and there is the b’inside loyalty programme, with bonuses for regular Bwin users, but the focus seems to be more on offering a wide range of bets, and good quality information, rather than on deposit bonuses and special offers.
The site does open a lot of new windows for different purposes – such as fixture listings, live scores, etc, but other than this annoyance it is quite easy to use.
A glance at a comparison site shows that they tend to offer poorer odds on the favourites, but often can be a good point of call for outside bets.
It is sensible to use more than one betting site, and the odds offered by bwin mean that it may not be a first port of call, however the quality of information available is good, and the mobile feature works well, so it may be useful for traveling bettors.
