Tips for Parlay Betting
Contents
If there’s one wager that epitomizes the fun of sports gambling then it has to be parlay betting. The reason people fall in love with these is because they give bettors a chance to win huge money by wagering small amounts of cash. In essence, it’s almost like a lottery except for the fact that you can control your own destiny….at least in terms of the bets. However, people being able to control their own destiny can often turn out to be a bad thing after the losses start to mount with their parlay picks. Luckily there is a cure for these mounting losses…..using parlay betting strategy.
Tip#1: Avoid putting too many games on a parlay
As mentioned before, the allure of parlay betting is the fact that a person can make major cash while risking little. Unfortunately, this allure can cause people to add a few too many games to their parlay in an attempt to maximize their winnings; nothing is worse than having one extra game blow your entire parlay. In order to avoid this painful scenario, limit your parlays to just four or five games you have actually analyzed. You may not strike it rich this way, but you can still make $600-$800 profits with these parlays.
Tip#2: Don’t use parlays to cover losses
There’s a reason that parlays have such good payouts: they are hard to win! But despite this logic, there are far too many bettors who think that they can make up for previous losses by hitting a big parlay or by laying lots of money on a three or four team wager. The truth is that these people only wind up further in the hole, as they are very likely to lose money on desperate parlay bets. You should always keep in mind that parlays are merely bets designed to make gambling fun and any win here is a huge plus.
Tip#3: Pay special attention to underdog home teams
Sometimes it can be easy to figure out the first three or four games in a parlay, but then struggle mightily trying to figure out a fourth or fifth team to put on the bet. This is when you need to start looking at motivational factors that could affect an entire team in a big way. One such thing that should be looked at is underdog teams when they’re playing at home. The reason for this is the following: Underdogs are given points by handicappers to begin with, and you will rarely see any home team quit on its fans, even when they’re losing.
Tip#4: Don’t risk your entire parlay with “surefire” bets
One thing that often occurs in parlay betting is that a person bets on several tough games which give him or her a great payoff only to blow the entire parlay by throwing in a couple of surefire bets which don’t pan out. It’s easy to get caught up in this type of thing, since some games almost seem like a lock and some easy extra cash. However, it’s simply not worth it to risk a perfectly good parlay trying to make a few extra dollars by adding these games.
Tip#5: Try out baseball parlay betting
One of the more overlooked sports when it comes to parlay betting is baseball. And this is unfortunate because the sport of baseball is a great one to place parlay bets on, since there are no point spreads. In theory, you could just pick the better teams and hope for your parlay to come though. Obviously it won’t be this easy, but it will make your parlay selection process a lot simpler.
