Surviving Sports Betting Losing Streaks

Surviving Sports Betting Losing Streaks

Sports betting is very enjoyable when things are going right and all of your wagers are coming up winners. However, sports betting can also be one of the most nerve-racking and frustrating things in the world when you are going through a losing steak – especially if you don’t know how to deal with one.

And those that can’t cope with the rigors of going through a losing steak will often get out of sports betting for good. But the people that can ride out the losing streaks will have plenty of future hot streaks in store for them as a reward. Here are some tips for how you can survive a sports betting losing streak.

Be realistic

The first thing you need to realize with sports betting is that you’re going to hit tough losing streaks along the way.  And no matter how good you are at sports betting, there is just no way to get around the fact that losing streaks will occur. Even the world’s best handicappers will have a couple of weeks in a row where they’re going 3-9 and 4-8. But the one thing these people know better than everyone else is that this is just a fact of sports gambling and one needs to remain calm during these periods.

Don’t change what works

If you have a proven track record of success with the handicapping method you use then you’re obviously on to something. But even the soundest methods can take a beating during a losing streak and this is when some people start to change what has always worked for them in the past. Unfortunately, this is a huge mistake since you should never change what made you a good sports better in the first place. So if you know that your way of betting is solid then you should stick to that method and wait for things to turn around.

Reduce your bet size

Some sports betting systems preach that the best thing to do after a loss is to double one’s bet size. But what happens if you keep losing over and over again as is the case with a losing streak? You’re going to lose your whole bankroll eventually! That’s why it is important to start drastically reducing the sizes of your sports wagers when you’re on a cold streak. A good rule during a bad losing streak is to reduce your bets by half of the normal size you make until things start getting better.

Keep the number of bets

If you’re a beginning sports better then you definitely want to keep the numbers of bets made each week to a minimum until more experience is gained. But if you’re someone who been doing this for a while then you’ve probably got a set number of games or matches that you like to wager on each week. And during a gambling losing streak you might be tempted to cut the number of games you’re betting on to a smaller number. The problem with this is that there’s no guarantee wagering on a smaller number of games is going to help you out and you could be cutting your winners with this strategy. This all goes back to the principle of not changing up what made you a good sports better in the first place.

Take time off when necessary

Just like you need to take time off of work or other things to come back refreshed, taking time off of sports betting can be very beneficial to you in the long run. And this is never truer than when you are going through a bad streak with sports wagering. If you are someone that bets every day on games then taking one day off would definitely be a good idea. Even if you only wager on sports once a week then maybe you should take a week off and see it helps. Chances are that it will.
